Free Vacation!

History quiz- Do you know what this building is?

Hint- it's on a nickel..... Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's family home!

Mike's job sent him to Charlottesville, VA for a few days and he asked us to come along! Woohoo- free vacation!! We had a wonderful time and got to see the sights. Charlottesville is packed with American history and we lucked out with good weather. We explored U.Va., new and old parts, along with visiting nearby Monticello.

This was fascinating for me and I loved learning about Thomas Jefferson. He seemed like such a true being ahead of his times. The house was beautiful and the grounds even better. We had walked around U.Va. that morning (Aaron and I went exploring- looking for bears!) and then around Monticello all afternoon. Aaron was a bit wore out. How did we know? Our kiddo- who NEVER admits he's tired- started to lay down on anything flat!

Pretty cute. He conked out that night immediately and I don't think he moved the entire night! Funny though, Aaron is very confused about the big guy. We had the talk about how Thomas Jefferson lived a long long time ago and had since died and gone to heaven. We were just visiting his home, but he wouldn't be there. He understood that perfectly. But then, the darn city has a statue of Thomas Jefferson on every street corner I think, so we had plenty of photo ops for Aaron and TJ. So now, when people ask him "Did you see TJ?" even as a joke, Aaron answers of course and he even took pictures with him! Too cute...
