Cute comments

Okay, Aaron is the cutest kid ever! Well at least he makes the best comments. Here are a few recent favorites...

We had just arrived home on Saturday from a week of camping and were headed out for dinner. Aaron was just so happy to be back in his carseat so he asked "Why do we have to go to a restaurant momma?" I said something to the effect of "Because we have no food in the fridge and I'm to tired to handle cooking right now!" With this, Aaron melted my heart by saying "I can handle it momma! I will push the button and cook the food and it will beep when it's done!" Awwwww. I do think he would have said anything at that point to get out of sitting in the car again!

Let me preface this story with an ingenious idea we came up with at our house. (stole from another mother but hey, who's counting?) Aaron was getting up a bit before 7 in the morning so we installed a digital alarm clock in his room with the minute numbers covered up. We talked to him about how he needs to wait until he sees a 7 until he can call for us in the morning. We told him he could talk and sing and play with his stuffed animals until then if he happens to wake up early. Then Mike and I crossed our fingers and said a little prayer. We had no idea if it was working until....

On Monday, he for the first time ever, announced at 12:45 that he was tired. Unheard of in Aaron land. Then he proceeded to grab his lion and blanket and walk off to his room. Of course I rolled with it and put him to bed. He instantly fell asleep to make up for his traveling lack of it and to my surprise slept for quite awhile. I heard on the monitor around 3:15 that he was stirring and was waiting for the typical "Momma, where are you" until I plucked him out of bed. Nothing. Then at 3:30 I hear him whispering in there, so I open the door to see what was going on. He said he had a good rest, was awake but that "Momma, there isn't a 7, why are you here?" I about died of laughter since it was nap time not morning time and a 7 was a long time away!! What a cute little kiddo huh? Guess we know the plan worked!

There are those great moments in life when you just want to grab your kid and hold on forever. Moments like those make you grateful to be a mom and make me think it's the greatest job ever!
