Pumpkin Fun

These are a bit late but I thought they were still fun to look at. Aaron experienced his first pumpkin carving this year. We got it all ready, I made the lid and Aaron waited anxiously to see inside. He was so excited to "carve a pumpkin" not really knowing what that meant. When I opened the lid and he peeked over the rim, the look on his face was priceless. I gave him a tool to scoop the seeds and pulp out and one time inside the pumpkin with all the sliminess was enough!! He hates getting his hands dirty- definitely a trait not picked up by me!! So one scoop was enough and he ran off to his sandbox to play with his scoop and dumper and left me to the carving by myself... :) He did love the end product though. We took the jack o lantern to the front steps and lit a candle and watched him glow. Aaron loved watching the flame flickering inside and admiring the jack o lantern from the yard.

Later that evening we washed the seeds and roasted them. I let Aaron handle the salting and whew, I think with one seed you cover your sodium intake for the week! But they turned out well and we both enjoy munching on them from time to time.
