Ft. Macon

After the aquarium we drove up the coast a bit to Ft. Macon. I love visiting the old forts along the coast and it's unbelievable that people lived there. Mike and I always have a fun time trying to guess how it was set up, or how things played out. Aaron was a bit scared of the mannequins in the displays and as he entered each room he would cautiously scan the room for any before he really entered. This fort had a beautiful view of the water and we got to walk along the beach for a bit. There were lots of fishermen there trying to catch the big one! I guess it's good fishing right along there where the Bogue Sound meets the Atlantic Ocean. All we caught were a few good pictures- ha!
And after a great day of the aquarium and the Fort and all the interesting things that Aaron saw it's always fun to find out what made an impression on him as to what he relays on to others. So he tells my parents all about the aquarium and when he gets to the fort all he tells them is that he wasn't allowed to walk along the edge! Nothing about the cannons, the beach, or the actual fort. Just the one thing he wasn't allowed to do! Sorry kiddo, I can't let you fall 50 feet to your death- guess I'm one of the "uncool" moms already...
